Chiapas runs on Windows PCs with the .NET Framework 1.1 installed. Windows users who regularly patch their systems will likely
already have this installed. To make sure, visit the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Download Page.
This allows you to run the chiapasStudio GUI interface as well as the chiapasMain shell interface. Refer to the Introduction for
ways to execute Chiapas.
Chiapas has also run in the past on Unix systems based on the Linux operating system with the Mono libraries installed. Installing
Mono (or indeed, any Unix library) is beyond the scope of this website. Using the Intel x86-compiled SQLite may not function
under Mono, and the GUI nature of chiapasStudio definitely will not work. However, chiapasMain should allow you to bring up the
Chiapas shell prompt and also run as a persistent process, as described in the manual.
Chiapas is distributed as a ZIP file. You will need WinZip or a similar package to extract the contents. If you extract it to
the root folder of your C: drive, it should automatically create the C:\EDI folder and all subdirectories thereof.
Download the Zip distribution here If you are a .NET Developer, you can download
the version with full source code; if not, you may download the binaries-only version.
