Chiapas is currently at version 1.21, and is responsible for enterprise EDI at a number of HMOs and healthcare organizations. Work is underway to suppport the 5010 specs. The 4010 specifications - 270 / 271 / 276 / 277 / 278 / 820 / 834 / 835 / 837I / 837P (w/ 997 responses) are fully implemented with Addenda. Chiapas is capable of Level 1 and 2 syntax checking, and comes with an interactive Windows GUI tool for testing maps and data connections. Additionally, it comes with a scripting language that allows Healthcare EDI developers to create automated production EDI processes.Work to implement the 5010 specifications is ongoing; when this work is complete, Chiapas will be a robust, complete and freely accessible tool that allows healthcare institutions to be in full compliance with the January 1st, 2012 deadline for 5010 implementation.
